Was your problem ever resolved ?
I have been troubleshooting the same problem for about 5 months, the problem started about autumn 2015 but didn’t notice for months till it became obvious. I have monitoring tools so I know when there has been an internet loss and then I can just look at the router log to see if it was a router reboot or not. When at home we simply see it happening, the music from the internet will stop, quite simple.
The router will reboot randomly be it 1-2 in the week, sometimes it even happened like up to 6 times within 12 hours. Anything that anyone could think of I have done, I am myself an IT Systems Engineers with special skills in troubleshooting and have worked very hard in my process of elimination, power socket change, router swap, dhcp disabling, changing various settings in router config. The router was replaced, that was the first thing but to no avail. I was blaming Windows 10, so got rid of it and downgraded, was blaming two of our laptops because they were upgraded to Windows 10 (wifi adapters communication) so started leaving one off the network or just turn it off, then reboots happened anyway, then did that with the second one, and reboots still happenend randomly, as in just now, all these troubleshooting steps have been going on for 5 months and have been thorough. It’s happening when no one is actually home using a computer, except I have one laptop running a radio stream, which cannot be turned off but this computer has not had anything changed except Windows Updates but now I no longer believe it is a device at home causing this, this computer exists for 4 years running this radio streaming service. Everything else was already tried. I am not prepared to log a call with support as there is nothing that they can see and their technical knowledge is too low, the router reboots and that’s it, you can’t just reproduce the problem but I now believe that a process at UPC is causing this, the timing of the reboots seem consistant too, always similar timings, it also seems to coincide when they started that free WIFI service, where people share their router, I disabled the function from my UPC account (this actually rebooted the router at that point, thought I had solved it) but disabling this didn’t help anyway, but they have done something which causes people’s router, am I really alone with this problem ? The reason I notice it is because of my radio service and am alerted by my monitoring tools the second there is a loss, most people will not notice a loss of one minute, gamingn people would have the same problem. Unfortunately there are no other solutions other than moving house, a bit drastic but no other cable companies in my area, and an ADSL solution at 20 mbps which will cause 10 times more issues no way.
so if you got anywhere with this I’d appreciate some feedback or if anyone from the community has or is experiencing this
