  • It just seemed like an obvious question to ask, as there have been posts on here before from people who only connected it to their LAN and then wondered why it wasn’t working well.

The box is so much better than the Horizon box.  It’s fast and responsive; smaller and uses less power.  Apart from an initial glitch, UPC’s cloud services have worked reliably and it’s much better than having a spinning HD in the box locally.

If your replay is working well, then I’d say it’s job done!  Interesting to note that the box has to be initialised with a local connection before being moved (or the modem moved away from it - same result).  Maybe you’ll need to do that again when new firmware comes out.  Interesting.

I still think there are some features that need to be implemented (proper dolby digital; going back and “recording” programmes that have passed) but these are all back-end issues that can be implemented without new hardware.

  • Hi @ch-ris

    Thank you for your post.

The UPC TV Box is designed to work with both, LAN and Wifi. But for the first Installation or for troubleshooting issues, we always recommend to use it via LAN directly from the Modem without a switch in between. Afterwards you can try it over Wifi or with your LAN Switch. Though we don’t guarantee that it works fine while using it with a switch. The original setup is the most reliable one.

    Best regards,

    Ahmet
