Rollout of new firmware for Connect Box 3 modems

The new firmware for the Connect Box 3 modem (excluding DSL modems) has been rolling out since 15 January 2026. This is taking place in several waves.

Information about the new firmware?
1. The firmware designation is: LG-RDK_11.10.26-2410.5. If you have this firmware, you have the new features.

2. HTTPS-encrypted local UI & landing page (*)

3. Adjustment of the third octet of the local IP range (previous example: 192.168.1.10, new example: 192.168.5.10)

4. Improved interoperability with Sunrise TV Box, fewer connection interruptions

5. Stability improvements

(*) When you access the router interface, a security warning will be displayed before you log in. Click on ‘Continue’ in this warning. Additional warnings may be displayed, informing you that the page is not trustworthy. The reason for this is that a self-signed SSL certificate is implemented in the modem’s firmware, but the browser or security software used cannot find this certificate in the usual place on the Internet due to the usual security checks. A permanent solution will be implemented in future firmware versions, which will make the display of this message unnecessary.

that might have big consequences, shifting the IP address where customers would have avoided 192.168.1.x address
in my case, behind the Double-NAT setup I use 192.168.5.x, so this will surely bring down the internet.
Honestly the full IP of Connect Box needs to be configurable, (like any typical ISP modem is)

This will create allot of support calls to your hotline, you can measure the impact by checking data from the TR-69 updates and get an idea of the downstream subsets utilized

How will we know when this firmware is installed? Will it be automatically installed by Sunrise or do we need to reboot the router? Are there new settings or features inside the new firmware that will need our attention? Thanks.

You may have misunderstood.

They’ve just given an example of what you could do. After the firmware upgrade, everything is still 192.168.1.xxx but the third digit (the “1”) is now changeable if you so wish.

This seems like a coincidence, but it’s too much of one!

Prior to the new firmware, I would have an occasional pixelated pictures on my live/cable TV channels. Also, the modem would have logs implying signal interference (channel changes etc.).

Immediately after I got the new firmware, both problems stopped.

If you have the Connect Box 3 HFC, and for some reason don’t yet have the new firmware, make sure you leave the box on overnight and get it!

That’s a great update, the HTTPS, however, the certificate seems to be wrong:

It’s not so much “wrong”, but it isn’t passing browser tests.

You need to manually add the certificate so that the browser allows access and stops complaining.

I don’t know why Sunrise (a) wanted to encrypt the modem admin pages anyway as they’re only accessible from within the LAN, and (b) if they deemed it necessary didn’t wait until they’d gotten a proper certificate organised.

I’m sure support must be getting lots of calls from people wondering what’s going on.

The Local Subnet customization was long awaited. Finally it is here (but router not yet updated)

Can you please allow custom DNS servers as well in the settings, to be able to specify secured DNS instead of “basic” Sunrise DNS ?

For me, the firmware updated itself overnight and caused a router reboot around 3am (I think).

You can check the firmware version by logging into the router, but note the new SSL and certificate issue mentioned under (*) in the first post.

However, you don’t actually need to do or check anything; the router just continues to work as before but with a newer firmware.

Thanks, Adrian. I logged into my router interface around 10 days ago but didn’t see any security warnings (per Daniele). I also didn’t know to check the firmware version as I was looking for something else and I just learned of this firmware update. Maybe I’m in a future wave of updates?? Do you recommend waiting a few weeks before checking again? I want to make sure my router is updated. Hopefully, there are some new security enhancements in this newest firmware update. Thanks so much!

If you logged in without using “https” and without getting a cert warning, then you most likely still have the old firmware.

If it doesn’t match what it shows in (1) at the top, then you don’t have the new firmware. Apart from the SSL thing (which I personally think is a waste of time 😁 ) Sunrise talks vaguely about performance improvements. They don’t mention security at all.

They do say one can now change LAN IP addresses from 192.168.1.xxx to 192.168.anything.xxx but I doubt many users care.

I’m surprised your router hasn’t been upgraded yet; do you leave it on overnight? Anyway, just check every few days for your own curiosity; there’s no way to speed it up and imo it doesn’t really matter anyway!

I would like to change my current internet connection. I currently have the Connect Box 3 and a Cable (Coax) connection, but I do not want to use them anymore.

I want to switch my service to the DSL (Copper) line. Please activate the internet on my DSL socket and send me a compatible DSL Router that works with my copper line.

The problem today is that I called and told them I wanted to change my DSL cable, but they refused. It seems they didn’t understand my problem well. Unfortunately, I only speak Arabic fluently.

Your English seems good! You could also find someone who speaks Arabic and English/German/French and sit with them while they call on your behalf.

However, there’s a chance Sunrise don’t sell DSL packages any more. If you don’t want to use coax or fibre, they do a 5G modem (assuming you have a good 5G signal in your place).

Unfortunately, the fiber you’re talking about isn’t pure optical fiber. I don’t have any optical fiber at all; it’s just copper cable, which is useless. Its quality is extremely poor.

Sticking with coax seems the best option! Usually, it’s much faster than DSL. I don’t know about the 5G modems as I can’t find much info on them from people using one.

Keep calling Sunrise until they understand you 😁
