Ant8e Seems like my connect box is still on the old firmware. Is there a way to upgrade manually? Does the new firmware allows to configure static routes ?
adrianlondon I’m surprised your firmware hasn’t been updated yet, You definitely have the (not DSL) Connect Box 3 and don’t turn it off at night? As for the changes … only what’s listed in Daniele’s opening post has changed.
adrianlondon Someone in the German language section also posted recently that they’ve not yet got the new firmware. I think they also have the fibre CB3. So … you just have to wait! There’s nothing much interesting in the new firmware anyway unless you’re desperate to change from 192.168.1.xxx to 192.168.<your_choice>.xxx
Ant8e adrianlondon Yes. I was hoping that I could split my home network into multiple networks. But I do not see it possible without even with the new firmware ☹️
Xydocq hello Ant8e If you want to use VLANs on your home-network, you’ll need a router and other network hardware supporting VLAN. You can use DMZ to forward all incoming traffic to your own router.
Ant8e Xydocq Yes, I have one, that is currently setup as a transparent bridge. I would still prefer the option of routing at the IP level between multiple nets/VLAN
Xydocq Ant8e My home setup looks like this: Connect Box 3 HFC 192.168.1.0/24 DMZ to 192.168.1.2 Zyxel USG Flex 200 WAN IP:192.168.1.2 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Subnet:/24 DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 LAN1: 192.168.20.0/24 (Management, ALL access allowed, VPN allowed) VLAN11: 10.10.1.0/24 (Family Computers, WAN access only) VLAN21: 10.10.2.0/24 (TVs, WAN access only, bypass UTM)
Ant8e Xydocq Nice setup! So it’s doing double NAT once at the Zyxel and a second time on the Connect Box, right ? No issues with that ?
Xydocq Ant8e I do have double NAT but it is no big issue. My connection is as fast as it can be and it is very stable. I did some testing with Router Mode vs. Bridge Mode. No real difference, I also noticed my pings are faster then in Router Mode. Currently they are 12 to 14ms, in Bridge Mode they were 15 to 18ms.
