Port Forwarding for Synology

Switeched recently from Cable box to Fiber Optic Box.
Since then, no more external access to my Synology NAS.
Some port forwarding needs to be set up in the router, but no idea which ones and how to reprogram it.
Any help will be appreciated

You’ll need to call 0800 707 707 and request the change to IPv4 protocol.

Once it is applied, you’ll be able to forward ports again.

lambee01 The ports are currently configured as follows:

blue rectangle = internal port
red rectangle = external port

Example with your current configuration, if we assume that your server could be reached with this address: mysynoserver.myip.com

Accessible from the outside your home:
meinsynologyserver.meineip.com:5001

Accessible from inside your home:
192.168.1.157:63845

So if you have not changed the internal port of your Synology (5000/5001) for your access, this port forwarding will not work. You would also have to set 5001 in the red rectangle or change the default port in your Syno to 63845.

But I already have IPV4 protocol.

I just need to know which ports and to where need to be forwarded.

First of all a word of warning: opening ports puts your device or even your network at risk.

By default Diskstation uses port 5000 (http) and port 5001 (https). DS Audio will also need port 80 to be forwarded.

To gain access from the internet to the Synology, I recommend using a VPN-connection. You can use the VPN-server build in to the Synology.

Even though I recommend not to use port forwarding to the services directly, you can do it by following the instructions in parts.

You’ll need to assign a reserved IP to the Synology. Next thing, install and setup VPN-Server on the Synology. I recommend using the openVPN Server. Remember the port the VPN server is using, protocol should be UDP. Once the VPN server is up and running, log on to the Connect Box and set the forwarding rule.
