WLAN Powerline Problem

I have the WLAN Powerline set, along with the Connect Box. Adapter A (the one closest to the Connect Box) shows a steady red light. Previously it was continuous white. Adapter B, closest to the television (about 30 meters away from the Connect Box) is showing continuous white. Should I reboot the Connect Box?

Ajklein00 Yes please restart the modem once. Remove the powerlines from the power supply first. Afterwards, as soon as the modem is online, plug in the powerlines again.

Do they work again?

Hello Daniele,

Yes they worked for a while when I rebooted the Connect Box and removed Adapter A from the wall socket. However, when I started to view a view on my laptop (next to Connect Box), the red light on Adapter A is flashing, which means I don’t have sufficient bandwidth for the UPC Internet Channels on the TV. The problem seems to arise when viewing video files on the laptop. This was not the case a few weeks ago, so I can’t understand what is causing this.

Ajklein00 We have just initiated a replacement of your modem. You will receive the new modem in the next days. Please replace all cables and the power supply with the new ones in the package. Please contact us again afterwards if the cause is still present.

Hello Daniele, Thanks for the update. The powerline adapters seem to be working now. I removed them from the wall socket and rebooted the Connect Box, as you instructed. When watching a video on my laptop, the powerline Adapter A is not blinking red as it was previously. I will see how it does in the next few days. Perhaps you should hold off on sending me the new Connect Box until we see if the powerline adapters are stable. You can do what you feel is best.

Hello Daniele, The powerline adapters seems to be working, as I am still getting the internet TV channels with my TV box. However, I have notice that adapter A (closest to the Connect Box and the laptop) always comes on when I am doing work on the laptop.

The Gigabox has come in and I am wondering if I should replace the Connect Box with the Giga Box. Is the Giga Box compatible with the powerline adaptors I have now? Also, does the Giga Box have a higher bandwidth than the previous Connect Box? Where can I find the specifications? Thanks.

Ajklein00 Please install the new modem and then connect your powerlines to the new modem. Please note, if you are using a Connect App, it may take 24 hours for the new modem to show up in the Connect App.

You will not have higher speed with the new modem. The modem is capable of more speed and is a newer model, hence the replacement.

Daniele, you said I would not have a higher speed with the new modem, yet then you say the modem is capable of more speed. These are conflicting statements. Which one is correct?

Ajklein00 Both statements are correct. The new modem can handle up to 1Gbit speed. The Compal modem you had until now can only handle 600 mbit. So if you ever increase your subscription speed to 1 Gbit, you already have the correct modem.

I replaced the Connect Box with the new Giga Box. Everything seems to be working fine. The powerline adaptors are showing a steady white LED. One question– will the powerline adaptors A and B adopt the new WiFi network and password?

Sorry, I wrote too soon. The powerline adaptor A is now blinking red, and I am unable to receive the internet channels with the TV Box. Should I remove the powerline adaptors from the wall socket and restart the modem? Or is there a problem on the UPC end?

Ajklein00 Please try to sync the devices. If this does not help, reset your powerlines. It is also important that they are not plugged into a power distributor or an extension cable.

Adaptor A next to Giga Box still shows blinking red LED However, this does not affect the TV box which still receives all internet channels (>200). Signal strength is about 60%, All devices connected to the new WiFi network are working properly, with good speed. I am not going to do anything unless I see a deterioration of quality.

Hello Daniele,

Sorry to bother you again. After trying to synch the two powerline adaptors, Adaptor A next to the Giga Box is showing a steady red LED. Adaptor B, close to the TV is showing a steady white LED. When moving away from the Connect Box about 10 meters, I start to lose the WiFi connection on my iPhone. When trying to reestablish the WiFi connection, the only available networks are the previous one I had with the Connect Box. I can reestablish connection to the Giga Box WiFi network by moving closer to the modem.

I am beginning to wonder if I need to use the Pod instead of the WLAN powerline connector. .

One question– If I upgrade to higher bandwidth to 1 Gigabit with the Giga Box, do you think I could get by without the pods or the powerlines? Do you know how much that would cost? If I test the 1 Gibabit bandwidth for a couple days and they work with the TV box, and all devices connected, perhaps I don’t need the pods.

Ajklein00 This would not do anything. Faster speed will not improve the WIFI. I still recommend testing with a Connect Pod. A Connect Pod is free with your subscription.
