Hello.

I’ve changed from the Internet-only modem to Horizon of upc cablecom recently, and I realized after several hours of use that the box turn “off” automatically after sometime - the light indicating whether the box is in a stand-by state or working is totally off - but it can be turned on using the button in the front (not the one at the back).

After reading the online guide, I noticed that there is an option to let the box stand by after a due time, yet it is nowhere mentioned that it goes totally off. My problem is worse, in that I don’t really have a TV, thus I cannot even check whatever is set for the “Eco-mode”… The main reason I’ve changed to Horizon is that the old WLAN modem worked not so good at times, but now the intermittent interruption of network is total nuisance.

I wonder if this is a problem with the box itself, and if it is not, how can I get the Internet work 24/24 without interruption, given the condition that I have no hope using a TV to adjust the settings ?

I forgot to mention that I solved the problem yesterday by separating the Internet service and the TV, and keeping my old Technicolor modem.

This is a very special case indeed, you’re describing here. There are settings you can define so that Internet connection is still on while the box is on stand-by. However, in order to ativate those settings, you need a TV. Else, it’s quite difficult to activate the settings you need.

But we may have the solution for you: According to the records you have an Internet 250 subscription, correct? The Horizon Box is primarily used for digital TV. So if you are using the Horizon Box for Internet pursposes only I recommend you either call our support team (phone no. 0800 66 88 66) or go to one of our shops and ask for a Connect Box. It’s the latest modem we have, offered with our Internet 250 and Internet 500 services and is highly popular amongst our customers.

Many thanks to @Michaelhello for the attached link. However, this is exactly what I read.

The problem is that it doesn’t really go into a “stand-by” situation. I never saw the light goes red which means the box is in a “ low-power stand-by state ” as indicated in the same manual, but directly off… Which should not be the case… I also wonder if one let the box stand by in the high power state (yellow light), should it turn deadly off after sometime ? And this is also my case…

BTW I also tried several ways to modify the settings “blindly” using the printed menu in the same manual, nothing changed…

Unfortunately, you should try to have a TV or a PC screen to modify the Stand-By options.
