TV Box

Some channels (I’m looking at you, ITV2) like to split movies up by putting a short “news” program in the middle. Both parts of the movie have the same name. (See picture)

If I select either part and tell the TV box to record it, the guide displays a red dot on both parts, but when I try to watch the recording, it only has one of the sections (beginning or end, depending which one I hit the record button on).

If I try to hit record on the other section, it asks me if I want to delete the recording.

Is there a way to record a movie when it has been split like this?

Really, this issue either has to be fixed at source or your software becomes more intelligent at recognising that two programmes with the same ID either side of a short programme are in fact one continuous programme.

Thanks for your help Daniele and Happy New Year!

@Stephen , Yes the error is certainly from the wrong EPG. Unfortunately we have no possibilities to fix this during the holidays. You are welcome to post future examples in the new year and we will fix them afterwards.

Thanks for the welcome Daniele!

This is a constant problem on ITV2 and Paramount - see Doug’s example from the first post. Tonight on Paramount, there are two films, A Fist Full of Dollars and Jason Statham’s Parker that are interrupted by the programme Access. I guarantee that both will be affected by this issue.

Do you mean that the problem is already there in the EPG data fed to you by the respective channels? If so, can you give them a kick to get them to play nice?

@Stephen , Welcome to the community.

This error occurs when there are discrepancies between the EPG data and the real TV program. Unfortunately we can’t adjust the EPG data retroactively.

Please excuse the error.

Greetings

Daniele

I’m having the same problem. The planning (not on replay) is only made against the first part, but both parts are marked as being planned. Just the first part is recorded.

Makes sense that this would happen if the EPG on both parts are the same, but that knowledge doesn’t solve the problem.

@Doug , Did you try to record the other part via replay? I think the mistake is that in the EPG both have the same EPG name and therefore overwrite each other.

Greetings
Daniele
