Well I got a box. I don’t think it’s fair to force people to rent a second one.

i need Tv occasionally on the ground level and if it’s working on a android. Box or Apple TV what is the idea of blocking mirroring ??? Also why do they put an AirPlay option if they don’t want to help their customers but just make them pay

ClausW it was working for me yesterday evening on all channels. I even noticed that my iPhone was very still and fresh no heating

When you have a MediaBox it will be working. That is what the customer service person told me. I refused to do that.
My understanding is that they do not want to make money by selling the box. It is about profiting, which UPC can do much better with a box than with the iPhone when Apple will allow you to stop profiling.

sundreamer As you already have one, why don’t you use the UPC TV App on an Android Box or I think Apple TV for the second TV?
ClausW UPC is a commercial business and one of their main targets is to make profit. That’s what the stock/company owners want them to do.

I think the box is very nice now. The old one was a crap.

still if I could buy a second one for a descent price I would do it but they rent them in order not only to balance the hardware price but to make benefit on the long time

Well, I have an le oled cx6…..AirPlay 2 and the upc app as AirPlay too

i don’t think it’s worth the price to buy a new Apple TV for a few time.

i want something easy and simple.

i tried on a formuler box android and it was a mess

i think Apple TV is ok but not perfect for that

as The app worked finally yesterday evening (maybe it needs some time in order to work when you first try it) I was happy with the result ….. just browse on your phone and send via AirPlay ….. also I noticed that it’s not consuming batteries nor heating on the phone

for a occasionally second Tv spot it’s perfect.

To make business is fine with me, but then they should not treat me as being stupid and asking me to try any possible settings on my iPhone to make it working. Finally, one guy from the hotline was honest and told me the truth: “Buy a TVBox, get it connected and log in. Then through the Box in the trash.”

today the same it works a few seconds than I have a message that I need to wait depending on Tv shows for 20 to 1hour

why does the app refuse to stream in direct ?

sundreamer Please post the error message as a screenshot or photo. I have never seen this message.

sundreamer I assume that you have a UPC TV box. If so, then the error occurred during Startover Replay. That means you wanted to watch a live program from the beginning. Since this did not work, the app showed you how long you had to wait to watch Replay (Show end).

I was just informed that the error was fixed yesterday. Can you please test it again?

If so, do you know if a second box is available for buying and not renting
Also what is the price of it (I can compare to another box like apple)

last question. Is the fire stick from Amazon a good experience ? This is maybe the best solution but I have some kind of android box (not it upc list of boxes) and it’s a quite useless experience

sundreamer The boxes can not be bought. You can rent a total of 5 UPC TV boxes for CHF 10.- per month per box.

Whether the Amazon stick is good, you would have to ask in the English section in the community, or here in German (in german language). I think it has certainly users who have the stick in use.

i think it’s a wrong decision to rent a second box as a Apple TV is about 160chf

especially for customers having all connections with upc.

i heard Swisscom sell them…. I guess for a reasonable price it’s fair

that’s my opinion

let’s hope I don’t get into trouble with AirPlay in the future

I have the same issue. I can watch TV on my UPC TV app on the iPhone but I cannot stream it via my Apple TV to my TV screen. When I switch on Airplay, the video stops with a “not available” error message. Interestingly, there are very few channels that stream successfully via Airplay, so I do not think it is a technical problem with my router or HW setup (other Airplay content also streams without issue). It really seems like the App is intentionally blocking certain channels from Airplay streaming? But why would it block channels like SRF that are part of my UPC subscriptions?

Hi Daniele, Danke für Deine Antworten. Habe ich es richtig verstanden, dass man ohne Probleme die frei verfügbaren Kanäle wie z.B. SRF als LiveTV von der UPC TV App vom iPhone via AirPlay streamen können sollte? In manchen Beiträgen hier klingt es so, als ginge das nur wenn man eine UPC TV Box hat oder dass manche Kanäle aus lizenzrechtlichen Gründen nicht via AirPlay gestreamt werden können (obwohl man sie auf dem iPhone schauen kann). Es wäre toll, Klarheit zu haben, ob das LiveTV AirPlay Streamen vom iPhone ohne UPC TV Box zumindest in der Theorie funktionieren sollte.

I only have a Gigabox for Internet, not a UPC TV Box.

kaizrh si it should not work properly by AirPlay unless you have a box

Is it confirmed by UPC that they block AirPlay when you dont have a UPC TV Box? I think it would be good that they state this where they explain the functionality of the App and Airplay. So unless I rent a box for a monthly fee I cannot use Airplay?
