Hi, I can not access nearly ALL websites based in China, whether they are considered popular or not. For example, the search engine Baidu: https://www.baidu.com/ and movie rating website Douban: https://www.douban.com/

I have tried deactivating the surf protection on MySunrise, but the issue remains. I also tried deactivating the firewall on the router, which didn’t help either.

I feel like Sunrise has blocked Internet traffic from/to China… The websites based in other countries work without any issues.

Yes, there are some websites that we block from our side. There are various reasons for this, but we cannot tell you exactly why.

    Hi Jessica, thanks a lot for your response. I can understand that some websites are blocked, but what I don’t understand is:

    • I used to use Sunrise Internet in Dübendorf and could access such sites, but after I moved to Effretikon, they were blocked. Does this depend on the region?
    • I can also access such websites when I switch to Sunrise’s mobile networks on my phone (4G/5G).

    So my question is, why is almost all internet traffic to/from China only blocked by the Sunrise internet service in Effretikon?

                    RafaelW May I ask if you use security software via Avira, Avast, Malwarebytes, etc. or any other browser add-ons? If so, which ones exactly?

                        Daniele_Sunrise None of them. For Windows 11 laptops and desktops, except for built-in “Windows Security” that is part of the system software. For the other devices, such as Macbooks, iPads, Android and iPhones, no such security software is used. But they all behave the same: no access to websites based in China when connected to Sunrise Internet (wireless or wired), the moment I switch to mobile network or use my laptop at the office, such websites are accessible…

                            RafaelW I’ve checked everything I can check and I can’t find anything that explains the error, as long as all your devices are connected directly to the modem with the WIFI or LAN cable.

                            You could also write to our Abuse Team (abuse@sunrise.net) and ask if there is a block.

                                    RafaelW Since you are using the standard Windows virus protection and no browser extensions are active as far as security is concerned, I no longer have a solution as to why the pages are not working. I therefore recommend that you call our support team so that they can create a ticket regarding this.

                                      Just so you have a comparison I am also Sunrise customer at home, and i have access to website Douban. I am blocking baidu thanks to my pihole dns based ad blocker. On the phone, outside of home, on the phone network I have access to both websites. Have you tried different DNS provider?

                                        Henrymote Thanks for your info! I called the support team, and they solved the problem by changing my IP address.
