Hello,

I have setup a Plex media server, and I have been unable to manage to access it from outside my network.

I have activated UPnP in my router, and have set up a port forwarding for my Plex Media Server. The server is connected to the internet for about 5 to 10 seconds, then disconnects.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have read dozens of post on this forum and elsewhere, and I am still unsure of what’s going on ! This is literally driving me crazy ahah

    Unfortunately, it is still not working. I have rebooted my internet box, just to be sure… The server will go on for a few seconds, and then disconnects… Any idea why it does that and how to fix it ?

      The_Dub The port forwarding on the modem is correct. Now we have to check everything afterwards.

      I have a few questions about this:
      1. which device is the Plex running on? Is it a NAS or a computer with Windows operating system?
      2. if it is a NAS, is it a Synology?
      3. if it is a Windows PC, has port 32400 been opened in the firewall?

        Hi,

        The problem seems to arise from my VPN (cyberghost, compatible with Plex).

        When VPN is off, all good with the Plex server. When VPN is on, then it is not accessible to access it from outside with a direct connection.

        Could this be coming from Sunrise?

          What a VPN do you have? A VPN Server on the same NAS/Sever/VM you run Plex?
          Or do you have the VPN on you Handy etc?

          Please elaborate how you setup everything.

          Since it works without the VPN, it mostly isn’t an issue on the sunrise side

          Cyberghost VPN, which should work with Plex.

          VPN on the same machine where Plex is run indeed.

            But your PC, where Plex runs is it the VPN Server for ex. you mobile which connects to the VPN Server on your PC?
            Or is it yout the Mobile, which has a VPN Connection to a Cyberghost server somewhere in the world?

            If your PC is the VPN Server AND the Plex Server, you have to split out the Plex Server from the VPN as far as I read on the web.
