Dear all,
I have now had issues for some time with accessing my NAS on my home network and this prevents me from running back-ups or synchronising folders, which makes the NAS useless…
A few details to my set-up
- My router is the “Sunrise Internet Box Fiber” (the taller white one)
- My NAS is a Synology product and is linked to my router via cable
- I essentially run Apple products
I can access my NAS through my desktop but not through my 2 laptops (an older one for which I have had the problem for some time and a brand new one, bought last week).
It looks like the router is “blocking access” from my laptop as any access is impossible (either over Synology’s apps, MacOS’ finder or web browser). I can t even ping it. I know this sounds crazy
- laptop used to connect and is not anymore, I did not change anything set-up wise
- changing the laptop’s IP does not help
- restarting all devices (router and NAS) sometimes helps for an hour or two but inconsistently
- switching of the Box’s firewall doesnt help
- looking into the error logs from the box, there is regularly a DNS name resolution failure error popping out, sometimes with the NAS mentioned between (), which leads me to think this is the issue
- I gave in 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as primary and secondary DNS static servers but it is not helping either
Any idea on what to do?
Can I somehow make sure that my router does not consider my laptop as a threat
Thanks in advance for the support
Chris
