Unstable internet with new CBN modem/Connect Box

Hello everyone,

Few weeks ago I replaced my old modem (Thomson), due to wifi coverage issues and some other technical problems. The tech team was very kind and professional over the phone, but they decided it was best to replace the modem.

We did so and I quickly installed the new Modem/Connect Box CBN by Compal.

The wifi signal strenght issue was fixed. The signal is way stronger than the previous modem.

However, since the installation of the new modem, the internet connection because extremely laggy (it took minutes to load this page), unstable (sometimes it disconnects on its own) and slow (download speed decreased, even though they are still decent).

Any idea of what might be the cause and its solution?

I have already used your software wlan optimizer, which slightly improved the overall situation, but the internet connection is till struggling to cope with normal webpages (this forum, the BBC news page etc.). Hope it can be fixed!

Hi @Chospo,

Thanks for the results. With the upload speed you have, I assume you have at least Internet 100 or a higher Internet subscritpion.

Do you have try to call the support? They can verify if the problem comes from your line or from your new modem. In my opinion, it is the line.

Good morning @Chospo,

Yes, it might be the modem, but it is too early to say something about what is the cause of your issues.

Despite your internet speed, may you try to do a speedtest please? Post the results of the speedtest here.

That’s a good point @Michaelhello - to be honest I hadn’t tried that before.

I have just spent the last 30 minutes doing so (testing the ethernet cable connection) and there was no improvement.

Attached you can find a screenshot of how it loads the Twitter login page.

Doesn’t seem related to the wifi signal…might it be the modem?

Does the internet speed is unstable only when you use the Wi-Fi or it is also unstable with a Ethernet Cable?
