Disconnecting from internet and the router with WiFi connected

I had internet connection problems before which seemed to be solved but now I face a different issue.
I get disconnected from the internet AND the local router although WiFi signal remains perfect and the router does not restart. What happens exactly (I monitor the connection every 2 seconds through ping) :

Access to internet fails (for some seconds)
Ping to various hops fails
Ping to 127.0.0.1 fails during these seconds of the interruption
The router does not restart
I get connected again to internet and the 127.0.0.1 again after some seconds
I have the 2.4 Ghz and the 5Ghz WiFi networks separate so there is no possibility of one interrupting each other.
The router is switched to IPv4
What could be the reason for the 127.0.0.1 not being accessible if there is no issue with the WiFi signal and the router does not restart ?

I have restarted your modem since it’s 36 days online. Please test it again. Please ping the 192 IP once and not the 127.

Daniele_Sunrise indeed I was pinging 192.168.0.1 - I wrote 127.0.0.1 (localhost) by mistake. Thanks

I still face the same problem regularly. Local Network Connection Quality is the result of ping 192.168.0.1 (Connect Box router). I think we’ve tried everything restarting the router, changing the router, switching the router to IPv4. Is there anything we can do to finally solve the problem ?

Don’t suppose you have a Mac? I had intermittent issues connecting to my wifi a year or so ago until I disabled the automatic-channel switching function.

It’ll be worth a check. It’s under Advanced Settings / Wireless / signal

I came here to ask what I think is the same thing. UPC often has brief interruptions (5-10 seconds) throughout the week. It recovers quickly. The problem is that after each interruption, wi-fi sometimes has problems. Connecting via a cable works fine. This is confirmed by doing the “Network diagnostic tool” on the UPC gigabit router, which says that there are wi-fi problems. Turning 5Ghz off then back on again seems to solve them temporarily, or rebooting the whole box if you don’t mind waiting a few minutes. Maybe try connecting via cable and running that diagnostic tool next time it happens? That might help when contacting UPC…

The signal at your modem has recovered since May 13, 2022 as it was not set up so well before. Also, we see many devices connected via WIFI. Are you using WIFI repeaters on your network? If so what kind?

It’s because the UPC modem doesn’t bother sending a country code, so you randomly get one from a neighbour. In my case, today, it’s showing “DE” for Germany. Then, if the UPC modem decides to change/pick a channel number that’s not in the legal range for Germany, the Mac will refuse to connect.

This can be a big problem for those who, or whose neighbours, own a WiFi router from Asia, especially China, as they really block a lot of channels which the UPC modem will typically pick.

I believe this problem would be permanently fixed if the UPC modem/router actually sent out a country code, but I’m no expert. Anyway, the workaround is to manually pick a channel in the config and disable the feature that could cause it to change.
