Hi everyone, I recently saw a notification on my Mac saying WPA is not considered secure (see attached screenshot). But after checking on the security settings on my UPC provided router I see no way of modifying or changing the security setting. I will like to know how to change these WPA settings and or just use my own router. I have an extra Ubiquiti router and wifi extender that I will like to use since UPC products have a tone of limitations.

chris666x Welcome to the community!

Please log in on your modem. Then change the protocol in the WIFI settings in the security section and set it to WPA2 - Personal. After that the message should disappear.

Hello Chris and Daniele, This is exactly the issue that I’ve discovered on my iPhone and iPad. Thank you too for the solution, but I have a really dumb question…. How do I log on to my modem? No clue I’m afraid… I’d really like to solve this issue.

You can open a web browser and then enter this address: http://192.168.0.1

Then enter the password (you can find it on the bottom of the modem).

Hi Daniele, When I followed the clear instructions (after having logged on to my modem - thanks again!), I did not have the same options as you outlined… Under the Advanced settings/Wireless/Security, I did not have the drop-down option of selecting “WPA2-Personal”. I have a different drop-down. I would have added a redacted screenshot here, but I’m unable to. Any other suggestions? Would appreciate your insights. In the meantime, have a great weekend, CHK 🐨

CHK What choices do you have in your drop downs? Have you ever tried to select a different entry in the dropdown than you have set now?

Daniele_Sunrise Hi Daniele, I only have 3 choices under the Security drop-down.

Disabled
WPA2-PSK
WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK (this is the one selected).

Thanks for your insight - I have not changed any settings as I don’t know what these codes mean and what impact they might have.

CHK Please try to use entry 2. Then save the setting and restart your modem. Does the message on your Apple devices disappear after that?
