The unique combination of Switzerland’s leading gigabit fiber optic cable network and one of the world’s best mobile networks continues to move forward. Sunrise UPC will migrate all UPC Mobile customers to the Sunrise network from 14.06.2021. The migration will be staggered and take place over several weeks.
HOW DOES THE MIGRATION WORK?
Your SIM card will be automatically updated (OTA - over the air) on the migration date (from 14.06.2021) and the Sunrise mobile network will be set as the preferred network (home carrier). You should therefore make sure that the network settings of your device is set to “automatic”.
Depending on the status of the update, please note the following:
The SIM card will be updated during the corresponding day. Default network is Sunrise (the display will show “upc ch”).
Under certain circumstances, it may happen after the changeover that:
the device connects to the Swisscom network (the display shows “Swisscom”). In this case, make sure that the network selection is set to “automatic” in the network settings of your cell phone. Then restart your cell phone and check if the display shows “upc ch”.
The roaming indicator (“R”) is also displayed in Switzerland. This can happen if the network selection on your cell phone is not set to automatic and your cell phone has not yet been switched over. Please check the settings and restart your cell phone. Important: In such a case you will not be charged roaming rates. If in rare cases the “R” is still displayed after restarting your cell phone, please contact our hotline.
WHAT WILL CHANGE FOR ME?
Nothing will change. You can continue to use your cell phone as usual, at the previous advantageous prices and conditions. (There will be no changes to your subscriptions, products and services, including customer support and advice, administration and logistics - except that you will benefit from the advantages of the award-winning Sunrise mobile network after the switch).
CAN I BENEFIT FROM THE 5G MOBILE OFFER FROM SUNRISE AFTER THE SWITCH?
You can continue to use your usual services and also benefit from superior network quality and coverage, with both 3G and 4G. 5G services are not included in your subscription. To use 5G services, you should switch to a Sunrise Mobile subscription. To do so, contact customer service on 0800 007 045.
WILL WIFI CALLING AND VOICE OVER LTE CONTINUE TO BE OFFERED?
Yes, both are still possible. More information about Wifi Calling and VOLTE.
WILL MY SUBSCRIPTION BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE AND DO I NOW HAVE A SPECIAL RIGHT OF TERMINATION?
No, the change will not affect the prices and available services of your existing mobile subscription. Therefore, there is no special right of termination.
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I WILL NO LONGER HAVE RECEPTION AT MY HOME / WORKPLACE AFTER THE CHANGEOVER?
We do not expect this to happen. However, if this is the case, we recommend that you activate the Wifi Calling function on your cell phone. If this does not improve reception, customer service will be happy to help.
Important:
- From 15.06.2021, existing customers with UPC Mobile subscriptions - new activations during the migration phase will be switched to Swisscom’s network and will also be migrated at a later date.
- The migration will take place gradually and automatically. At the customer’s request, this can neither be interrupted nor accelerated. (no opt-in or opt-out option)
- No adjustment of price, scope of functions (no 5G, no premium SMS) and charges due to migration.
