  • Thank you for such prompt response.

We have worked with an independed technical professional and made number of changes to the ethernet and wifi setup in our place in the last two days. We are now testing the results.

I will be back with my feedback in the upcoming week.

    Best Regards,

@BlueLagoon , Welcome to the community!

First of all I would like to inform you that I can understand your annoyance about a not very stable WIFI very well. On the part of the network we could not register any interruptions.

The following tips could help to improve the WIFI:
    - we change your modem from IPv6 to IPv4. Some devices and applications have difficulties with IPv6
    - the conversion requires a restart of the modem with possible reset and takes 30 minutes
    - After that we can change the channel of your WIFI 2.4GHz to 1, there it has only one neighbor in the same channel
    - you could then try to reposition your modem
    - finally, you can download the UPC Connect app on your cell phone and measure your WIFI
    - there you can order a Bosster, which amplifies the WIFI signal

What do you think we should start with the change to IPv4?

    Greetings

    Daniele

  • This is my last attempt at finding answers and next step is switch over to another provider.

I have recently moved into a new building and the UPC internet came with us. Since the beginning (3 weeks and counting), the UPC moden has been completely unreliable. It keeps dropping Wifi multiple times per day, on average every 30mins.

We are both working from home so this is extremely frustrating and unproductive. We have called UPC and our 5 year old modem was replaced for a new one (I do not see the difference between them). We have tested the connection using various devices; Mac, PC (Dell, Lenovo), IPhones etc. They all produce the same results, constant drop of internet connection.

The other two neighbours use Swisscom so there is no point of reference.

The important part however is that our downstairs guest room is transmitting Wifi signal using store bought device and this signal has been for the most part stable, only dropping about twice per day.

What is it in the UPC Wireless modem that could cause such frequent disruptions? I have removed the 5GHz connection after reading about potential conflicts between 2.4HGz and 5GHz, yet no improvement.

I am so tired of rebooting the Wireless box to get connection multiple times per day. Please help!
