Some time ago I asked for help regrding the Connection of the Connect Box 3 with my ASUS mesh router. Ultimately I was advised to buy a ubiquity switch to connect to connect box’s port 4. Unfortunately many weeks have passed and I do not see any improvement. My question: based on your experience, which mesh router+satellite could work best with the connect box 3? I’d take the opportunity to upgrade to WiFi 7. Is there anything that needs to be checked to make sure I fully get the 2.5Gb/s? Thank you so much

@"Bianpie"#p291732 your setup looks like the sketch? If yes, you have this option without getting any new equipment: 1. Run the Connect Box 3 on Router Mode. Disable the WIFI on the Connect Box 3. 2. Connect the Ubiquiti switch to Port 4 of the Connect Box 3. 3. Change the operation mode of the Asus router to Access Point/AP-Mode and connect the WAN Port to the Ubiquiti switch. 4. Plug the Computer into another Port of the Ubiquiti switch Now your Computer will have a faster connection and your Asus router has the same speed as before. You can still connect devices to the Asus router but they will only get 1Gbit/s. Only the Ubiquiti switch will share the faster speed.

hello @"Bianpie"#p291636 I do remember the conversation we had regarding the speed issue. The Ubiquiti switch is proven, not to affect the speed provided on Port 4 of the Connect Box 3. Pointing out the switch wasn't a shopping advice. Yesterday I did take my home-network apart, removing one of my WiFi AP's (Zyxel NWA130BE), to do some testing with the Connect Box 3. With a MacBook Air 13" 2022 M2 I got like 850-900Mbit/s on the Wifi-Connection. The WiFi Connection on the MacBook showed 1.2G and it was on the 5GHz band. The 6GHz band was used for this test and the device showed 6e. On all tests there were two managed switches (Zyxel XGS1210-12 v2) and an unmanaged switch (Zyxel MG-105) between the Connect Box 3 and the PC or the AP. There might be other network equipment, working well with the Connect Box 3. Like i said, Ubiquiti and Zyxel devices have shown, not to affect the port speed of the Connect Box 3. Some devices from other brands impacted the port speed dramatically, almost reducing it to less then 100Mbit/s. WiFi connections tend to be very unstable, when it comes to speed. Sometimes it's good, sometimes fair or even poorly. There are many things that can play into the quality of the signal. The only proven way, to get most of the speed, is using a computer with a build in NIC that is capable of 2.5Gbit/s or more.

I’m trying to figure out how to get the same LAN speed from my mesh router as I do from the LAN connected to the box 3. It seems like when I connect the LAN directly to the box 3, I get speeds over 2Gb, but when I connect it to my router, even with the Ubiquiti in between, I only get half of that speed.

I ran a speed test using the ASUS itself (so no connections, no wifi…) but i get only half. Even tough a device has a 2.5Gbit/s port, doesn't mean it will make full use of it, here are some examples: - Cisco Meraki Go GX-20 1Gbit/s port, max troughput 250Mbit/s - Zyxel USG Flex 50 1Gbit/s port, max troughbut 260Mbit/s - Zyxel USG Flex 200 1Gbit/s port, max troughput 650Mbit/s I can't find any information on the real troughput of the ASUS router you have. My XT8 got a max of 1.6Gbit/s on the Connect Box 3 and with my WiFi7 AP using the fastes WiFi device at hand it was max 1.61Gbit/s. No other device I have supports WiFi7, so they are way slower. I am a customer, just like you. I've had many different devices in use. I can talk about the devices I've had but I am not going to buy devices, just to test them. Nor should you. To make full use of the 2.5Gbit/s is almost impossible. I monitor my connection and the most download speed I use, is around 170Mbit/s. That's when my server runs a backup-task. During normal use the most is 30Mbit/s. Most of it is used by the TV-Boxes. Also, the server you download from, needs to support the speed. Since bandwith is still expensive, most don't.

I hoped that all 2.5Gb wired connected box 3 -> ubiquiti -> ASUS XT 8 I could read some higher speed on the XT 8 itself, as there is not wifi or anything else in between. I’m running the speed test provided by the router itself, so no further connections (when it goes to wireless i accept a drop, no problem). Should i buy a new router with a better 2.5Gb port or 10Gb port, so that the 2.5Gb effectively arrive at the router? Please enjoy your Sunday

@"Bianpie"#p291804 I did some testing with my XT8. But first, you don't run the Asus router in AP mode, it is still set to run as Router. The speedtest isn't available in AP mode. Well, I still find it funny that sunrise comes in with well above 2 Gbit and the ASUS can onlyget to 1.8 (in my case 1.3 max). I was wondering if this is an issue with the ASUS or elsewhere.
