Modem 2 to 3 not any faster

Stavo ottenendo una buona velocità: circa 900 Mbps con Modem 2. Mentre il mio abbonamento copriva fino a 2,5 Gbps, ho aggiornato online. Il nuovo modem è arrivato prima delle 10.00 del giorno successivo. Cablato. Mettilo in modalità bridge da utilizzare con il mio sistema di mesh deco esistente .. Testato la velocità sia dal cavo Ethernet che dal Wi-Fi e dalle velocità sono esattamente le stesse. Devo fare di più ??

I was getting a good speed - around 900mbps with modem 2. As my subscription covered up to 2.5Gbps, I upgraded online.

The new modem arrived before 10.00 the next day. Wired it up. Put it in bridge mode to use with my existing Deco mesh system..

Tested the speed both by Ethernet cable and wi-fi and the speeds are exactly the same. Do I need to do more??

While your internet-connection is able to handle speeds up to 2.5Gbit/s, your Deco-router might not.

Only Port 4 on the Connect Box 3 provides 2.5Gbit/s for LAN. Any device connected to this Port needs to have a 2.5Gbit/s NIC. If your Deco only supports 1Gbit/s on the WAN port, that’s all you will get.

WiFi-connections are currently not able to come close to 2.5Gbit/s, they might be between 500 to 800Mbit/s. Which is perfectly fine in most cases.

The reality is that I don’t have anything that can handle more than 1Gbps, including my desktop iMac or my mesh WLAN.

This information, plus the fact that only one port of the Modem 3 supports 2.5Gbps, was not made clear to me when I upgraded our internet earlier this year to 1Giga, when I was told that with a newer modem 2.5 would be available.

So now I am CHF49 poorer, but a little wiser!

DirkFirkin Since you are using bridge mode and the router you have connected does not have a 2.5Gbit connection (from the Sunrise modem to your router WAN), I recommend purchasing a suitable new router with a 2.5Gbit WAN connection and at least one 2.5Gbit LAN connection. This will give you 2.5Gbit speed with suitable devices.

If you don’t want to make any investments, I recommend setting your modem to router mode. This will give you at least 1Gbit on two LAN ports at the same time, which is not possible with your router setup.

For your information, although 2.5 Gbit is only available on LAN 4, the total speed without connecting a 2.5 Gbit device is 2.5 Gbit on all LAN ports, which is 1.5 Gbit more than before.
