Ho il pacchetto Sunrise Giga nella mia casa, che include la scatola di connessione UPC 2. L'ho in una stanza al piano principale della mia casa. Il pavimento sottostante e il pavimento sopra ottengono una ricezione molto scarsa. Guardando le opzioni di estensione WiFi, se consiglia di "posizionare il tuo estensione WiFi non più di sei a nove metri dal modem, idealmente non oltre un corridoio o due stanze di distanza". Eppure c'è un'altra pagina che consiglia di acquistare un set di 3 o 4. Uno su ogni piano li terrà chiaramente lontano dal modem, che la prima pagina dice non sarebbe efficace. Quindi, alla fine, voglio ottimizzare tutti e 3 i piani con il modem al piano medio. Qual è la mia migliore opzione?

I have the Sunrise Giga package in my home, which includes the UPC Connect Box 2.

I have it in a room on the main floor of my home. The floor below and the floor above get very poor reception. Looking at the wifi extender options, if recommends “positioning your WiFi Extender no more than six to nine metres from your modem, ideally no further than one corridor or two rooms away. ” Yet there is another page that recommends buying a set of 3 or 4 of them. One on each floor will clearly keep them far away from the modem, which the 1st page says would not be effective. So ultimately, I want to optimise on all 3 floors with the modem being in the middle floor. What is my best option?

RicT Our WIFI Pods or extenders feature MESH technology. This means that they communicate with each other and not necessarily all with the modem.

In your case, you have the modem in the middle and one extender/pod on the upper floor and one on the lower floor. This should work, as the modem takes care of the middle. It is important that the pods/extenders are not too far away from the modem. Two pods/extenders should be sufficient. More can be added at any time.

Thanks Daniele_Sunrise appreciate the quick response. Just wondering about the “pods/extenders are not too far away from the modem. T” Each would be only 10-15 meters away (linearly) but in different floors. Would that work?

I currently have the little “ Wi-Fi amplifier” downstairs, but doesn’t seem to make a difference….I assume these extenders (at the higher monthly cost) would actually work better?

RicT Here and here you can see how much distance is required.

Since various other factors such as metal in the walls, wall thickness, etc. are decisive, I recommend starting with Connect Pods 2, which you can order in My Sunrise (Internet product options). If these two are not sufficient, you can order another one.

Here you can also find the difference between Connect Pod 2 and Extender. I don’t think we ship Connect Pod 1 anymore.

Thanks again…still struggling to see where to get form.

And the only option is the extenders. Also no place to see Conect pods 2

I did get a POD as I mentioned, a couple of years ago…but never had one that connects to the modem. Just the one that I plugged in somewhere but did nothing, So where can I purchase these new ones? …and seems you need a Sunrise Smart WiFi Start subscription for these to work at all>

You also have to option to use a third party MESH System like a TP-Link Deco or Asus ZenWifi.

Disable the WiFi on the Connect Box 3 and use the MESH System for Wifi.

RicT You can log in to My Sunrise and then click on your Internet product. There you will find a field labeled “Options.” The extenders (the latest WIFI MESH devices) can be ordered there.

Daniele_Sunrise Thanks…apparently you need to first order a “Smart sunrise wife” option…which I did yesterday (5chf/mo) as well as activating a Connect POD that I have (2/5pchf /month) and shows pending. So not sure how long that takes to activate and not sure if it is supposed to include any hardware?
