Hi,

The instructions to connect my phone to the fixed network include two options:

If your Horizon HD Recorder combines all three services - TV, Internet and telephony - you have two possibilities for connecting your telephone:

Option 1: If your telephone cable ends with a small, transparent RJ11 jack, you can plug this directly into the TEL 1 socket on your Horizon HD Recorder. If your subscription includes an additional connection, please plug the second telephone set into the TEL 2 socket.

Option 2: If your telephone set is fitted with a “TT83” block connector, first connect this to the adapter provided. You can now plug the small RJ11 jack into the TEL 1 / TEL 2 socket.

The problem is, there is no Option 3 for my phone cable, which ends with a RJ45 jack.  How to connect this to the TEL 1 socket on the Connect Box?

Thanks

Rosie

Thank you so much Adrian.

Not the answer I was hoping for but at least I know now :smileymad:

Hi Icarus,

It is a new phone, Panasonic KX-TGP600, which is supposed to be VOIP.

I tried plugging it in to the Ethernet port on the Connect Box, but I get “Error 03” on the handset.

According to the manual, this means "The REGISTER of the SIP server has not been

registered".

That doesn’t mean anything to me.

Thanks
R

Hello @CupCake,

Your phone is probably an old ISDN phone which can’t be used. ISDN is an obsolete technology.

You need to buy an analogue phone.

I assume your phone is an ethernet one, so just plug it into one of the ethernet sockets on the back of the Horizon box..

Otherwise I guess you’ll need something like this, although I’m doubtful it’ll work:

If you’re near one, ask in a Cablecom shop.  I’ve learnt from experience that if you need any adapters to connect your gear to their infrastructure they’ll give them to you for free (if they have them). However, as I say above, I reckon you have an ethernet phone.
