I want to connect a home computer (linux) as a server to the internet.
The question is how to make shure that my dns server can always connect to my home server.
If I understand correctly,
the modem I have (Connect Box 3) can be configured to use IP version 4 or IP version 6.
If the modem is only figured for IP version 4. The option DynDNS are available and I could configure this to make a stable link between dns server and my home server.
If I use IPv6, the address is global, and can be directly be linked. The IPv6 is stable also after reebooting of the modem but a stable IPv6 is not guaranteed unless the modem and server are always on, isn’t it?
What is the best way?
I guess, my connectbox 3 is configured as IPv6. There is no DynDNS option on the side bar.
I temporarily removed the Firewall from server and computer and and I tried to ping my home server from outside the Wifi which did not work. Is there another constraint.
IPv6 addressing within the Wifi network works fine.
