Powerline & Booster

Hello, I have two Powerline WiFi boosters set up in our house and they both have a different network name to the main Connect Box. I was informed via telephone to connect them using the WPS button - this worked once but somehow it stopped working and now I cannot get the two of them to connect again. I have tried resetting both boosters and starting the installation process again as well as then doing the WPS connection again but it continues to be the case that I have 3 separate networks in our house and we have to change to a separate network when we go upstairs or downstairs. My expectation was that the adapters allow us to have a reliable internet connection thorugout the house without having to constantly change the WiFi network that we are connected to with our devices. Can anyone help? Thanks!

    HippyK Welcome to the community!

Can you log into the WIFI of the modem once and then enter this address in the browser:
    http://upc-ap

Does the address work for you? If yes, you can change the WIFI name there.

Here below I have a PDF for you. In this PDF the status lights are explained. What does your not working device show as status? On page 2 in the PDF is the “WIFI cloning” explained. Maybe you can test this after doing a reset via Reset hole?

    Greetings

      Daniele_Sunrise Hi Daniele,
Thanks for your feedback - maybe I am not explaining it right. It is not that I want to change the name of my network OR that the networks / boosters are not working. For me it is about connecting/linking the booster in the first floor and the booster in the cellar to the connect box in the living room so that we have one WiFi system throughout the whole house. Right now if I am in the first floor I have to change to a different network than when i am on the ground floor or in the cellar.
I understood that linking them with this WPS button allows them to all be connected together as if it was one seemless network and I won’t have to change the network every time I am upstairs for example to get a good wifi coverage.

Does that help explain the situation better?
      Thanks for a short feedback

HippyK Thank you for your detailed explanation. If I understood it correctly, you have to change the WIFI each time you change floors. If this is correct, I assume that your boosters do not have the same network name and therefore you have to change the network each time.

Basically your WIFI device does this itself. If the coverage on WIFI 1 on the upper floor gets worse because you go downstairs, then your device should switch to the stronger WIFI. This will also result in an interruption since you are not using a WIFI mesh system.

If all my statements are correct, you can use WIFI cloning as already written above. This takes the WIFI from the modem and copies it to the boosters with the same name (SSID). Then you have one WIFI name for the whole apartment. You can go up and down and your device decides itself which WIFI it takes.

If you do not want an interruption and build a complete strong WIFI network, then there are paid WIFI Mesh systems at the retailer, which improves your WIFI and this without interruption when changing one access point to another.

        Greetings
        Daniele
