  • Who is broadcasting NHL hockey?

At the start of the 2021-22 NHL season, Sport1+ was promoting regular broadcasts of NHL hockey games. The UPC TV guide had these games in their schedule, however the programs were blocked and in their place Bullriding was broadcast. I contacted Sport1+ and requested an explanation. They stated that for licensing reasons, they are no longer allowed to broadcast the NHL in Switzerland as of this season. The rights are held by another broadcaster. I would like to know who is broadcasting NHL hockey in Switzerland? Clearly I am disappointed in UPC since I expected to be able to watch NHL hockey with my paid subscription. Many thanks.

    Blue Sports broadcast some games.
If you want to watch all the games, you can use the NHL App.

MinervaRoss Welcome to the UPC Community!

The sports channel Sport1+ is basically free in the selection of its content. Therefore, we at UPC have no way of influencing any short-term program adjustments. However, we are in contact with the provider to ensure that the program preview data (EPG data) is updated on a daily basis and that we can correctly reflect this data in our program preview.

The issue is not about updating the program preview. The question is why NHL hockey is being blocked in Switzerland even though Sport1+ is broadcasting the program? Fact is, UPC was showing NHL programs in the guide up until about last week and it was only sometime later that the schedule was updated with bull riding. The point is that UPC arbitrarily changes it programming content without informing the customers who, though their paid subscriptions have an expectation about what they are paying to see.

FlavioD - thanks for the tip about Blue Sports. I may be forced to change providers.
