Remote Network Access using a VPN (Wireguard)

Dear Community

I want to access my home network via a VPN, or Wireguard to be more specific. I have reached the limits of my current knowledge and would be glad if anyone could point me in the right direction. So far I configured a DynDNS as well as the router settings that go along with that. I know that since I don’t have a public IP, I have to forward certain ports. I don’t know however, how to integrate Wireguard into my router or what ports I need to forward and to where.

I’ll share any technical details needed upon request and thanks for your help in advance.

What type of connection are you using? Fiber or DSL?

Honestly, the easiest way to accomplish everything you want, might be a Fritz!Box. Sunrise allows the use of third party routers on DSL connections. Please don’t take this as a buying advice, I’m just telling you what the easiest method is.

You can not integrate Wireguard into the InternetBox. You will need other hardware with this feature build in or supporting the installation of a Wireguard-server (Linux PC, ect.).

That’s unfortunate. I don’t really feel like buying a FritzBox right now. Would there be any alternative options for tunneling into my home network that are easier/don’t require me to buy anything?

The options depend on the devices you have on your network.
