Does any of your security software incorporate PDNS to safeguard users being sent to unresolved IP addresses?

Also to stop potential malware infiltration?

Protective DNS (PDNS) is a security service that analyzes DNS queries and takes action to mitigate threats. It is a catch-all term for security solutions that examine your DNS queries and implement safeguards to prevent you from accessing malicious sites that contain malware, ransomware, phishing attacks, and other dangerous content.

Protect DNS makes the network more secure by preventing Malware attacks by preventing users being sent to unsecured web sites should the IP Address of that secured website not be resolved by the DNS server.

This avoids attacks such as DNS spoofing, where the attacker attempts to infiltrate the DNS server table.

DNS (Domain Name Service) spoofing is the process of poisoning entries on a DNS server to redirect a targeted user to a malicious website under attacker control. The DNS attack typically happens in a public Wi-Fi environment but can occur in any situation where the attacker can poison ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) tables and force targeted user devices into using the attacker-controlled machine as the server for a specific website.

I believe this would provide additional security to all users of UPC and Sunrise.

The above was investigated as part of my Cyber security research for Man-In-The-Middle type of attacks when using Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • Gabriella No UPC customers do not have the protection. We recommend if necessary for UPC customers an external software that controls this and protects your devices.

Gabriella We had until now a supplier for Sunrise customers with the Surf Protect product. This protection is based on DNS (there is a DNS cloud in between). However, since we are looking for a new supplier, this product is currently no longer available for new customers.

    Hi Daniele

You mention Sunrise NEW customers what about the existing UPC customers?

Do UPC customers have a protected DNS or are we all just waiting for a new supplier for a protected DNS?
