Currently there is an increasing number of fraudulent SMS and e-mails with promises of prizes or requests for payment from unknown persons in circulation. For example, the recipient is informed that a parcel delivery is pending. A small amount of money is requested for the delivery. The amount can vary. In addition, a displayed link takes you to a form in which you should enter personal data. The aim of this phishing SMS / e-mail is to make payments to the unknown person and to collect personal data.
There are also promises of winnings on the Internet on websites which tell the recipients that they have won a mobile phone and that they should fill in a form and make an advance payment by credit card so that the prize can be sent.
All these cases are fraudulent websites. If you receive such SMS or e-mail, we recommend the following:
- Do not call any numbers that are sent to you unsolicited
- Don’t click on links you don’t fully trust
- Do not transmit personal data
- Do not reply to the sender (via SMS or e-mail)
- Delete the e-mail / SMS, provided that it does not need to be used for further evidence
