Hello Daniele,
Thanks again for sending the new Gigabox.
I have tested it thoroughly over the last week, and the conclusions are somewhat strange.
The device works perfectly when there is only one device connected. But as soon as two devices are connected, regardless of what they are, the self-diagnostics report a problem with the WiFi, even if both devices are connected by ethernet. I have tried every combination of devices in the house and all return the same problem.
The only way to get the WiFi to report as working is to hard reset the box, no amount of connecting or disabling devices will do it.
However, my further tests have surprising results. Extensive ping tests, on both WiFi and ethernet, pinging different addresses 1,000 times and repeating this many times, shows approximately 0.025% dropped packets on WiFi (well within expected margins) and 0% dropped on ethernet.
So, the only conclusion I can draw is that the Gigabox itself is at fault and is falsely reporting a fault.
My general observations have shown the internet connection to be solid, even with video calls there were no dropouts, with speeds as they should be.
So, although this isn’t perfect, I am not concerned by the false positive from the Gigabox, just that my connection is stable and working!
I hope this might help you and other customers who have similar issues, please let me know if there’s any other information I can provide.
In the meantime, thanks again for all your help, you’ve been great.
Have a great weekend,
David
