Hi,

It seems my router is not very efficient at spreading the WiFi signal accross my house and I don’t have a way to move it anywhere else in the house. I tried a range extender too and it keeps failing connection.

Can I buy a good Asus router and just connect it seamlessly?

(P.s.: this router is also not able to deliver de 1gb promised download rate, only 650_mb via lan cable)

Hi Daniele,

Are there any special parameters that need to be set on the router in this use case? I have repalced my connect box with a giga connect box, and with the giga the connection is rather shaky. It feels like when there is more general internet traffic, it loses its connection to internet.

If I VPN to some other server then everything works smoothly.

@lukeneves , We can only give you recommendations here. Whether your own router will solve your problem, we can not say. It is possible that your neighbours occupy many channels in the 2.4GHz range, which explains your error pattern.

Other users in the community also use their own router and can post their experiences here. In any case, the WIFI is deactivated in Bridge Mode at the Connect Box. So only your router would send a WIFI signal.

I will try to run without the antivirus with the current setup just to compare.

If I decide to buy a new router and use with bridge mode, do you think that will help boost the signal? (I assume the main Wifi signal will still come from the original Connect Box - so not sure how well this will work.)

It’s funny because my house is only 50 m2 - and the signal gets a lot workse from the living room to the bedroom - maybe my walls are all covered in lead?

@lukeneves , Yes you can buy and connect your own router. For this you have to set your modem to “Modem / Bridge” mode in the administration menu. Then connect the Connect Box via LAN1 to your router (WAN)

If you have an antivirus like Kaspersky, Avast, Bitdefender, etc., try uninstalling it once and then do a speed test via CNLAB.
