Hi community. Does anybody know whether UPC plans to raise the bar from 1 GBit/100 Mbit to 10 Gbit/10 GBit, and if yes (Sunrise offers it already) - when? Question because I am selecting the provider between Swisscom and UPC now (full package), and would opt for UPC provided 10 GBit will come soon…Thanks for your responses, OA

We don’t know yet when we will introduce such an offer. If we have any information, we will post it on the community.

UPC’s prices are no longer competitive and a cheek. Many people only use UPC because Swisscom and others are not yet making much progress with fiber-optic expansion.

Thanks to 5G, I now have an alternative, but the upload is unfortunately not yet as good.

When will 10 Gbit/ finally arrive? Especially the upload speed of UPC is a disgrace and far behind the competition!

It is not a secret that the state of the art would allow much more than 1 Gbit/s even at UPC.

I recommend to get some technical knowledge about DOCSIS. At the moment Version 3.1 in downstream and Version 3.0 in upstream is in use. As you can see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOCSIS , 10Gbit is possible, BUT that’s the maximum per node, where you can easyli share that with 400 other people.
The upstream can’t be raised at the moment. First the UKW radio has to be removed from the cable to get the frequencies free. And event then, 10Gbit is impossible in the cable net.

UPC can request the price exactly because most people living on the country, without fiver connection, don’t have an alternative, if they want 1Gbit.
