I require to solve tasks for a course that takes place on a known and well established platform called OffSec. Whenever I request resources that are absolutely necessary for me to do my work, sunrise will not only show openly that they intercept, decrypt and man in the middle my traffic, they even block me from learning the skills required for me to pursue my professional career.

Sunrise is a malicious group of social terrorists and they deserve every bit of spite that they get on social media. And everyone who “chooses” to work for this group of criminals, deserves my pity but never my mercy.

How about you secure your own network, before you are actively forcing your criminal practices on an already struggling market and muscle other educational platforms out of reach?

Since we are a customer-helping-customer forum here, we cannot change the system settings. But from what I understand, the address megacorpone.com is a known IT test site with malware samples? Sunrise Surf Protect is doing a great job here and blocks the access automatically.

The message from Firefox in the second image is only triggered by the redirect to the Sunrise warning page. The browser suspects a manipulation behind the sudden certificate change and rings the alarm.

There is no error and the security feature works exactly as it should. If this blocks your OffSec work, you can simply disable “Surf Protect” yourself in your My Sunrise portal under your subscription settings. Please note: If Surf Protect is currently included in your plan as a free promotion, I am not sure if you can reactivate it for free later on.

I never activated “Surf Protect” nor did I want that “product”. You see, i never wanted to be “customer” of sunrise in the first place. But since it is the only company that offered coax-connections to my last address there was literally no other option. Now I moved away.

Please understand my frustration with a company that was calling me literally 4 times a week for the first 3 months even though I always uncheck “send me spam” and then I was struggling with connectivity issues over the past 2 years and had to set up my router again for the 6th time now. I can not even cancel “Surf Protect” because I have a seize order impending.

That I have to unset my seize order to be able to cancel “Surf Protect” is not helpful. You see time is not a resource I like wasting. And every time I deal with this company it feels like they love wasting my time. It is what it is.

From a customer’s view, it makes zero sense why a billing block prevents you from turning off an option. But technically, a “seize order” is a hard billing freeze. The system automatically locks the entire database contract. It prevents any changes that could alter the monthly invoice amount.

Options like these can sometimes be part of a promotional package or standard bundle upon contract setup. That is a possible explanation for why it shows up on your account now.

Since we are just customers here, we cannot change this database rule. However, you can try calling the special cancellation and retention hotline (0800 100 600). They have deeper system access than regular support. Since their actual job is to help you optimize costs, they might be able to manually bypass the lock and turn off “Surf Protect” for you.

No worries at all, everything is fine. Frustration is a completely normal reaction when technology and administration are blocking your work.

We are all just customers here. We completely understand how stressful these loops can be. It is great to hear that you could arrange things with customer support now.
