Hello everyone.
I have a contract for two mobiles that ends on the 6th of September. I spoke with Sunrise in June and they told me they had a better offer for me for when my contract ends. I told them we could speak about it and I mentioned the 2-month notice period as I could not know whether this new offer would be good enough for me to stay with the company and I wanted to explore my options. They said that 6th of July would be a good day to talk about the contract. On 6th of July I received the expected phone call. The new offer was around 15 chf more from what I was already paying which was disappointing. I decided to end my contract. However, I was then informed that I can not end the contract on the 6th of September, but I would have to stay until the 29th of September. This was completely opposite to what the colleague in June informed me! Now I don’t mind staying for the extra 3 weeks, but the problem is I have to pay almost DOUBLE for September than what I pay each month, because of the expiration of the contract and my discounts. I am a student and 40 chf is quite a lot of money. Especially when I am being charged for someone else’s mistake.
Forgive me, but I do find it dishonest to try to make someone stay with fake promises and trying to trap them with extra charges. The “Oooops the 2-month notice period has passed, you get charged double if you leave now” narrative is infuriating and demeaning. People should stay because they are happy with the service, not because of lame tricks. I am already trying hard to budget my life in this very expensive country and you are a huge telecommunications company that had a revenue of more than 3 billion in 2023, as stated in your Wikipedia page. Is this the reputation you seek to have?
The right thing to do would be to either let me cancel on the 6th of September or keep the same price for the month of September. And we both know you can do either of them, so please don’t insult me with weak excuses.
