Packet loss with new laptop

Hello,
I bought a new laptop, and there are WiFi communication issues between it and the router. There are sudden packet loss, even against the router itself, whenever I browse any website:

I’ve tried limiting the band to 5GHz, splitting both bands, avoid roaming… Nothing works and the browsing experience becomes unmanageable. Drivers on the laptop are up to date. This doesn’t happen with any other devices I have.

I’m assuming my laptop is too modern for my 4-year-old router, and perhaps it can be replaced with a new model?

As it looks the ping log shows that the packet loss is happening directly between your new laptop and the router itself so the internet line is not the bottleneck here. This specific behavior on a modern laptop can come down to power saving features in the network adapter settings or a direct channel congestion within your environment.

You could try to open your device manager on Windows and check the properties of your wireless card to see if disabling the power saving mode for the Wi-Fi adapter makes a difference. It might also help to log into your router via your browser and change the 5 GHz Wi-Fi channel manually to a lower number like 36 or 44 to see if the connection stabilizes. The default password for the router login is printed right on the label at the bottom of your box.

As seen in your post tag you selected the older Sunrise Internet Box Fiber which can struggle to handle modern Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 chips efficiently. Since these constant wireless dropouts are making your internet unmanageable it is a good reason to call the hotline under the number 0800 707 707 and see if they can check for a free hardware replacement to the newer Connect Box 3 Fiber.
