Unskippable ads with Firmware v5.26

My Sunrise IP TV Box auto-updated to FW V5.26. Since then, I cannot skip some ads on some channels - even on replay show (e.g. ads before sports on RTS1/RTS2).

I tried to search for a change log on V5.26 but was unsuccessful. Apparently they are not public ??

What is happening ? Can I downgrade back to an older FW ? Can I de-activate it ?
I didn’t sign up for this..

Welcome to the community.

Those ads are forced upon us by the TV-stations. Sunrise is legally bound do play them to us.

The only way to skip the ads is to add Skip Ads option to your subscription, it cost Fr. 7.90 a month.

BTW: It has nothing to do with FW 5.26. The firmware is out for quite a while.

I’m confused now. They ads are legally mandatory yet skippable for a fee ? Sounds concerning.

Is it possible to downgrade to an older FW without the support for these unskippable/skippable ads ?

I absolutely understand your frustration

The monthly fee is just a license compensation that Sunrise pays directly back to the TV stations so they open up the skipping function on your account. A firmware downgrade is technically not possible because Sunrise manages all software versions centrally via the backend. Even an older version would still have to enforce the exact same streaming blocks because it is a legal platform setting which cannot be bypassed locally on the box.
