No video streaming from sunrisetv.ch via browser to SONY TV via Apple TV

Hello, I have been streaming from a laptop browser (safari) the contents from sunrisetv.ch to a SONY TV via Apple TV box for years without issues. Since I have a new SONY TV (google TV) the video remains black (both on the laptop browser and on the TV), while the audio works. How to solve this? I have tried “technical support” but it is completely useless. Many thanks for any hint to solve this.

Regardless of adrianlondon ’s solution, may I ask why you are not using the Sunrise TV app via AppleTV? Do you have a Sunrise TV product?

I might add that any other content streamed from a browser works as expected, it is only sunrisetv.ch content that exhibit a black screen, hence the pertinence to this forum.

This could be an issue with resolution.

Check the back of your Sony TV and try a different HDMI connection. Or try changing the resolution in Apple TV, if possible (I don;'t know - I don’t own one).

Finally, could it be a HDCP (copy protection) issue? Try looking in the Sony settings for HDMI inputs, or a different HDMI cable.

Just throwing some ideas out there!

I have been fiddling with the resolution and different TVs, inputs etc, it turns out that sunrisetv.ch does not currently (and since a few months) like the Safari browser, even though it is kept up to date on the system. The playback of video from the website works with Firefox. To note that with Safari, all streaming works with screen mirroring, including the Home screen of sunrisetv.ch, up to when I select something to play, which is when the screen goes black both on the laptop and the TV, while audio works. For me, it is much handier using a browser than adding apps, considering my use of this feature is occasional.

gsciacca According to your explanation that you only have sound but no picture, it could either be due to outdated codecs on your Mac, or the Safari browser does not fulfill the streaming guidelines and is blocked.

Perhaps one of these tips will help?

I actually tried all troubleshooting tips you to no avail, so it must be an issue with Safari ground compatibility that has ensued since several months, whereas previously I could mirror/extend the Mac screen on various versions of Safari and OS version. For posterity, in case someone else runs into the same issue and comes across this thread, the Safari video playback blackout when mirroring (and/or extension) from a Mac does not occur only when connecting to the TV (tried on two different ones) via an intermediate Apple TV, but also when connecting to the SONY as “google TV” natively via Wi-Fi.

I am glad it works with Firefox!
