I did some testing with my XT8. But first, you don’t run the Asus router in AP mode, it is still set to run as Router. The speedtest isn’t available in AP mode.

Anyway here are the results:
Baseline-Test 2.5Gbit/s NIC on Computer

Now the ASUS XT8 running on Router Mode:

I also got results around 1300Mbit/s so it was almost everything in between.

Now the MacBook air on the Asus WiFi:

the MacBook Air maxes out at the speed of the wifi-signal. So it doesn’t say anything about the real speed of the connection.

Xydocq You are absolutely right, I had to revert back to router mode to run the test. Well, I still find it funny that sunrise comes in with well above 2 Gbit and the ASUS can onlyget to 1.8 (in my case 1.3 max).
I was wondering if this is an issue with the ASUS or elsewhere.

Tell us what Software version your Connect Box 3 runs on.

Bianpie Everything is set correctly on the signal side. I can imagine that network scanning services on your router are slowing down the traffic. I have this tip from the Internet. Another question is whether you are using an antivirus program and if so, which one exactly?

Daniele_Sunrise First of all thank you so much!
I checked all I could but cannot find the bottleneck; AIProtection is off, no QoS…
The connection is box 3 -> Ubiquiti switch -> asus router, all connected with 2.5Gb ports.
Today i measured the speed using my router Asus (so no wireless in between): to my big surprise, I got 1.7Gb, so 0.3-0.4 more than usually…
If there is anything else I can do to make use of the 2.5Gb connection please let me know. Is a new router an option?
