Yesterday I signed a contract for the Plug&Play router at the Sunrise store in Zurich. At the time of signing, I explicitly asked whether this solution was suitable for online gaming, making it clear that this was a fundamental requirement for me. I was assured by the staff that the Plug&Play router was “perfect for gaming.”
Once I got home, while waiting for the router to arrive in the next few days, I started using my phone’s hotspot since my subscription also includes a mobile plan. I then realized that the connection provides NAT 3 on my PlayStation 5. As is well known, NAT 3 prevents the proper functioning of online multiplayer, voice chat, and other features, making the service unsuitable for gaming.
I would also like to point out that this is not a configuration error on my part, but rather a technical limitation due to the fact that the service uses CGNAT and does not provide a public IP address.
My question, therefore, is: with the Plug&Play router will the situation change and will I be able to get NAT 2, or was I misled (not to say scammed) in the store?
