Replace connect box 2 with 3rd party modem

Good morning all,

My connect box 2 has totally failed overnight, it looks like it’s burnt out as it’s dark brown on the top.

Is there a 3rd party cable modem I can buy to replace this ?

if so what is recommended? The house has numerous systems that rely on internet and I would like to get the house active again asap.

Or ,do the sunrise outlets stock them and I can go Into town to pick one up. I would prefer 3rd party though as port forwarding was always an issue with the connect box

I am not sure if you’ll get a replacement at a store, just feel free to try.

If not, you’ll have to call 0800 707 707 and ask for a replacement. They should send you a new Connect Box 3. Unfortunately there’s no 3rd party cable modem.

You can run the Connect Box 3 in Modem Mode and use a 3rd party router to handle port forwarding etc. In order to do so your connection needs to run on IPv4 protocol.

Thank you, I’ve bought a 5g router until a new one arrives.

I will use an amplifi system once it’s here.
