I have an issue with configuring static DNS on my Yallo Home Fiber Box. I am trying to set up a Pi-hole for DNS filtering, which requires static DNS. While there is an option for static DNS in the router’s UI, the feature appears non-functional as the relevant button is disabled.
To troubleshoot, I inspected the JavaScript code and enabled the static DNS radio button and IP address window manually. After applying the changes, my Pi-hole began receiving requests successfully. However, enabling static DNS in this manner completely disrupts internet access.
Switching back to the DNS Proxy option and manually configuring DNS on individual devices restores functionality, but this workaround is less than ideal for my use case.
I have noticed multiple forum posts addressing similar concerns about static DNS functionality, but unfortunately, many of them have been locked without resolution. I am hoping my inquiry will not meet the same fate.
Could you please clarify:
Why is the static DNS feature intentionally disabled on the Yallo Home Fiber Box?
Is there an alternative solution to enable static DNS that does not involve purchasing another router or switching ISPs?
