I had changed my internet 250 with a Ubee modem change to internet 400 and received the new Connect Box an oct 2, 2016

Since changing the Modem the download speed is very slow almost half the speed I used to have before. Download never exceed 93Mb/s and also ping is slow (11-15ms).

I’m using the Connect box in Modem Mode to which I connect a Cisco RV320. The setup behind the modem has not changed.

To test the speed I have my server Connected with a GigE. It is the Latest Version of a MacMini with 3Ghz i7 and 16GB Ram on OSX 10.11. I have also tested with a Windows 7 and windows 10 machine but it does not make a difference. I don’t use wireless for the test.

Should I go back to an UBEE modem?

I have been thru it all in the past years. I have upgraded my Cabling in the house, added a new distribution amp, new Connection, all installed by a certified Cablecom Service Company. The lines have been tested an certified last year.

I’m pretty angry. I’m paying for a service "Connect & Play 400, and it is not even a quarter of the speed you are selling.

Hi @Badbiker-1,

You can call the hotline and asked them to configure the Connect Box in “IPv4” mode. It would maybe deblock the situation with the ports.

I Spent a few more hours testing and came up with the following:

The RV320 is slowing down the network massively. If I bypass the firewall it will be a bit better but not acceptable either.

using the connect box by itself would be great but as I’m using a mail server it won’t work as it lacks forwarding of port 25.

the problem with the connect box is that it allows only to make a DMZ to a specific address but not to select which physical port is used as DMZ. So there is no way to make it work with my existing équipement. I’ve been looking at other product to replace my router but it would mean to invest at least 400.-. I actually called support to discuss athe port 25 issue, but they don’t get it. So if a real supporter reads this please answer my question. Is it possible to unlock port 25 for the connect box so I can add it to port forwarding?

for now I’m not happy and might change to Swisscom fibre because there it works and they can unlock it. I requested it for a customer. By the way I’m a Network specialist, Microsoft partner and certified apple server, Xsan specialist for over 10 years.

Those are my 2 cent on this case.

I have made many test with the connect box in Modem Mode and as router. The fact is:

When using the Cisco RV320 as router everything works fine but with slow speed.

When running the connect box in router Mode, Speed is up, but i’m unable to run my mail server due to the fact that port 25 cannot be forwarded. “The configured port range cannot contain one of the following reserved ports(25,53,135,137,138,139,161,162,445 &1080)”. The speed is as described above. Is there a way to enable Port 25 on the Connect Box. I read other posts about that issue but nobody ever received a solution from Cablecom.

I would definetly appreciate an solution from cablecom

I’m using the Cisco router for more than a year now and i have not changed its configuration. I will make one more test with the box in router mode without the Cisco to see if there is any difference, but I doubt it.

Good evening @Badbiker-1, welcome to the community,

The unique problem your internet connection has is the download speed. The ping is totally normal and the upload is the one that is promised by UPC.

Did you have the Cisco RV320 when you had the UBEE modem?

About the UBEE modem: UPC doesn’t provide anymore this modem. You can only receive a Connect Box from UPC.
