Euro 2016 will kick off on 10 June 2016. We are offering you the opportunity to enjoy selected Euro 2016 games in UHD quality. Without an additional box. Without additional costs.
Thanks to our powerful glass fibre optic cable network, we are ideally equipped to offer UHD (or 4K). For this reason, we are using the Euro 2016 games as an opportunity to test the transmission of programmes in UHD quality. The following eight Euro 2016 games will be broadcast in razor-sharp quality:
- opening match: 10.6.2016
- all 4 quarter-final matches: 30.6/1.-3.7.2016
- both semi-final matches: 6.+7.7.2016
- final: 10.7.2016

No additional box, no additional costs
All you need to get the live feeling at home is a 4K-compatible TV set with an integrated HEVC/H.265 decoder. That’s all. You don’t need an additional box, just a direct connection to the UPC 3-in-1 cable connection.
The games will be broadcast by SRF zwei in UHD on the following unused channel slots (in the course of 07.06.2016):
- German-speaking Switzerland: 45
- Romandie: 317
- Ticino: 335
To receive the channels (which will also be activated in all UPC partner networks), it may be necessary to perform a channel search. This depends on your TV set. You will find instructions for this in the fact sheet from the respective provider.
Possible differences between HD and UHD
SRF will use the raw input signal provided by UEFA for the UHD broadcast. For this reason, there may be differences between SRF zwei HD and SRF zwei UHD (e.g. camera angles, clips or replays). Please also note that reporting before and after the game, as well as the rest of the programme will not be broadcast in UHD.
A little taster
The Euro 2016 games are a taster of the future possibilities offered by UHD. As with the switch from SD to HD, UHD will be introduced gradually. We will keep you up-to-date here in the Community.
