I use a Fritz! extender to improve connectivity in a house where, of necessity, the modem is at one end of the house and the TV/computer at the other. It does an OK job, but I decided to try out some of these Pod things. My goodness, this system is hopeless! First of all, you have to download an app, which demands that you provide it with a password, the only problem being that you never get to this stage - you enter the site, and then wait for all eternity while four little red dots jump up and down. So, giving the app up as a bad job, I tried following the Pod instructions, but ended up with a result worse than the Fritz! extender. I guess Sunrise will be getting them back soon.

P.S. I hereby confirm that Pods are indeed the most useless thing ever invented. I finally persuaded the app to work and got the Pods set up - and the signal was “poor”, as opposed to the little Fritz! repeater that gives a reasonably good signal. They may work for some people, they certainly don’t for us. Sunrise really needs to look hard at a proper solution for difficult circumstances, not this rubbish.

P.P.S. Sunrise Support agrees that Pods are hopeless, unless source and device are on the same floor (ours aren’t).

tones I can not confirm this statement. The Connect Pods have the MESH technology. In the German area of the community there are some users who use the Connect Pods on multiple floors.

It is important to know that multiple pods are needed on multiple floors.

Thanks, Daniele, I’ve no doubt that they work - for other people. They simply don’t work for us. I did exactly what the instructions said - I connected one to the modem (downstairs) with an ethernet cable, placed another upstairs, used the app to connect the two - and the app said that the signal was “poor”. This is clear from the laptop, where the wifi signal upstairs has at best two out of three bars, usually only one, whereas the Fritz! repeater shows a minimum of two bars, often the full three.

tones I assume that another pod, which is connected in between, improves the WIFI by a lot. Do you want to order another pod and test it once?

Hello, Daniele, many thanks for the suggestion, but we had a set of three Pods. We installed one at the modem with an ethernet cable, another in the power point upstairs in the place where the Fritz! repeater usually goes, and the result, according to the app, was “poor”. And if it’s poor there, the third Pod is not going to make any difference.

P.S. I should just mention that there is no possible intermediate position between the two Pods for the third one to go. The modem and Pod 1 is located in the Bastelraum downstairs, and the Pod 2 powerpoint is located in a bedroom immediately adjacent to the bedroom above the Bastelraum.

Alas, too late, I decided that they weren’t going to work and took them back to the Sunrise shop in Liestal. But thank you for all your efforts on our behalf - a great pity that they were wasted in trying to persuade a useless product to work. Like most people, I don’t have the degree in computer science that setting up these things seems to demand - I expect, perhaps wrongly, that these things simply work out of the box, and not involve complicated jiggery-pokery
