Hi Michael
Thanks for your response. I have filled in the answers below - at least the ones I can.
Does the free internet connection you have in the Alps is the '‘Basic Internet’' with 2mbit/s in down. and 0.2mbit/s in up ? :
As to the “type” of free connection, I am not sure. All of the bills and posts go to the address in the Berner Oberland so I don’t have the info that might be found in those mails. All I do know is that my wife arranged for upc Cablecom televison (UPC is the only cable tv provider in the village at the moment) and they said that with her contract she could have free internet, too.(probably is “Basic Internet” ???). If you work for, or are connected to the people of upcCablecom, would her Kundennummer be of any assistance ?? If so, it is 6339237.
Do you know what is the model of your modem ?
The modem type I can tell you, because, returning from the Alps a few weeks ago, I brought the modem with me
in case anyone at upsCablecom thought I should bring it into their shop on Limmatquai. The Model number,
on the sticker found on the bottom of the modem is: TC7200.U
Although it probably isn’t very helpful, this units serial number is: SN SBAP42803642
Also the top of the modem has the word “technicolor”.
What is the TV socket you have in the Alps ? The first one or the second one ?
The second one.
About your 2nd question, I don’t konw anything about it.
Thanks for the link about the password. I will check that out.
And thank you very much for your quick reponse. A long time ago, when we had a Cablecom account in Zürich,
one of the sales people was using tactics that I did not like and (being American born) I elevated the situation to
the Cabelcom CEO for Switzerland/Austria (also an American) who promptly dealt with it (even sending me a
personal letter). This time, with it being only an installation problem I knew that there are people with experience
out there in “forum-land” who would help resolve the problem. I myself used to work in the “computer” industry
as a supporter, for mainframes, in the company Unisys - but modems and internet connections sometimes “throw”
me, although on the ‘net’ itself I am well experienced
Thanks again, Michael
Best regards,
Robert (most people call me Rob)
