unbelievable - it is to date still not possible to change the internal IP completely without limiations (only 192.168.-Network).
Since I was forced to change my plan (“plan not available anymore, jahdijah”), I was surprised when I got a new box. Despite of 25% power consumption increase (which may be attributed to the potential faster throughput of the new box), I only realized this limitation when I plugged the box in and started using it.
I was on the hotline for about 45 minutes and stated that I therefore want to terminate my contract accordingly since I require to be my own network adminsitrator at home - unless, it’s a “managed service” - which it isn’t. They took it and reverted the “configuration change” (instead of letting me go).
Anyhow, here I am now with my Technicolor-Router, happy as I was before.
I just can’t believe I had to go through this hassle and a network provider is able to be so incompetent. But whatever… there’s 5G coming and sooner or later fiber, so I’m getting options here…
