Giga Box: internet speed is not faster with the LAN cable

I have the Giga Box. My internet speed via wifi is only around 400 Mbits/s (even if the laptop is placed next to the box) and now and then the connection is so bad that I cannot do video-conference calls for work. To fix the situation I have tried to connect my laptop via LAN cable (original one that came with the box). However connecting with the LAN has not fixed the issue. On the opposite it looks that the speed is going down to 250 Mbits/s. How is this possible?! How can I get my internet connection stable and fast as per subscription that I have? Thanks!

We have done the following on your modem for troubleshooting:
- We renamed your 2.4 GHZ WIFI to ….._2.4GHz. Connect the devices which are further away from the modem to this WIFI. All other devices you connect to the WIFI without the 2.4GHz at the end.

- We have changed your modem to IPv4. The conversion is done in 30 minutes. After that, restart your modem. If you have difficulties, perform a modem reset. Press the reset button on the back of the modem gently with a pointed object for at least 25 seconds.

Please try again afterwards.

Hello Daniele,

thank you for welcoming me in the community as well as the troubleshooting that you have performed.

IPv4. I can see that the change to IPv4 took place, thank you.

Additional network with “2.4GHz” at the end. After restarting and later on resetting the modem reset as was advised - I still cannot see the additional Wi-fi network with the name with “ 2.4GHz at the end” (please see the screenshot below). I also have restarted both computers. Can you please have a look at this one more time?

Connection via LAN cable. I have done again a test with the LAN cable. Internet speed is not improving at all. So..this question of mine remained without an answer. LAN cable supposed to improve the speed. When connected with the LAN cable (original one that came with the box) the laptop is placed next to the box and no change in the speed takes place. I have done this test with two different laptops. Can it be that the max speed that i can get from UPC in my place is 400 Mbit/sec irrespective if it is LAN or WiFi (?)

Kathryn_Fox We have renamed the 2.4GHz again. Now you should see it. As for the speed, please do some measurements according to the following instructions on CNLAB and please report back here with the CNLAB UID.

Dear Daniele,

thank you. The additional network is available now and I will follow the recommendation to use it for the computer that is usually further away from the box.

As for the LAN and the speed, as soon as I get approval internally in my company to install this peace of software, CNLAB application, on my computer, I will be able to perform the test. Will let you know.

Hi Daniele,

I have performed the speed test as suggested. No issue, connection with LAN gives me the speed of 1Gbit/s. The test was performed on my brand-new personal computer. It does not solve my issue when I work from my corporate laptop though, but it has nothing to do with UPC as obvious. Will keep using the newly created 2.4 wlan and hope it will work. Thank you for your help!
