why have UPC not ported my number

I arranged to port my son’s prepaid mobile number from swisscom to UPC. This was organized over the phone with UPC back in September with the move to UPC happening on December the 2nd. In October, following the instructions of UPC we sent the required message “yes” from my son’s phone to 499 and got the return message that the number would be ported over. We received the new sim but it does not match his old number. I rang UPC and asked about this and was told they would address the issue and it could take a further 48 hours to solve the problem, this was on the 3rd of December. For a whole week there was nothing from UPC and so I rang again on the 10th of December, I was told a ticket had been opened on the issue (whatever that means) without any other information as to what would happen. I asked them to email me to let me know what is going on as I am sick of wasting time on the phone. I have heard nothing back from them. What must I do, my son is using his old sim with whats-app but has no credit and cannot make calls unless he is connected to wifi. In the meantime we have got his first bill.

HI Daniele,

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t get a chance to try it until now as we were traveling for the holidays. We sent yes to 499 and got the message the our request to port our number has been registered and our new operator will let us know next steps.

I guess we just wait now.
